It wasn’t a great day weatherise when I took this picture, it was overcast and very cold. Looking up at these works of art however, I could see some potential. If I exposed to get detail in the figures the sky would have been burnt out, almost white. I decided to do the reverse and under exposed putting them into silhouette giving me a really dramatic sky.
The photograph of these figures against such a brooding sky somehow have a feel of the old ‘Soviet’ and remind me of some of my Russian trips.
It’s not Russia however, these monuments are just in front of Buckingham Palace.
Technical Information: Leica D-Lux 6, handheld with 24 to 90mm lens at 24 mm. The shutter speed was 1/320 second the aperture was 5.6. The iso was 400.
Post production was done in Photoshop 5.5.
